This seasonal Yoga workshop will look at the Raja Yoga concept of sthiram sukham - steadiness and ease. Autumn is governed by vata dosha in Ayurveda - the qualities of lightness, dryness, cold and subtle arise easily in this season. Vata dosha governs movement, so to balance these naturally arising qualities we need to introduce a certain amount of steadiness and ease into our life to calm and relax the body, mind and nervous system.

We will explore Yoga asana (postures) linked together with the breath to create fluid movement that encourages stability and strength, build a gentle warmth with our pranayama breathing techniques and focus the mind with meditation. Our session will include a led Yoga Nidra (Yogic sleep). Ayurvedic lifestyle tips will be weaved into this extended practice too.

As we move from late summer into autumn we change not only seasons but also the Chinese phases from earth to metal. In this workshop we will explore qigong forms to harmonise these changes within nature and us! Metal has the qualities of inspiration, strength and transformation. It encourages us to see the preciousness of life and those around us. Our Qigong community is certainly precious.

We will also explore Daoist meditation and the qigong healing sounds during our 2 hour session.

Immerse yourself in nature this Summer and join Maria Dineen and myself for a 2.5 hour yoga and qigong workshop in our own private outdoor retreat area nestled within 60 acres of woodland and lakes at Buzzards Valley Vineyard, Drayton Bassett, near Tamworth.

The theme for this woodland workshop is ‘Tending the Heart Fire’. We’ll begin our time together with a meditation practice encouraging us to think about how we might nourish our own heart. We’ll then enjoy a playful qigong practice aimed at cultivating a deeper sense of awareness of and appreciation for the natural world around us, reminding us that we are part of nature and not something separate from it.

We’ll take a mid morning break for a natter over a drink and snacks.

And Denise will then guide you through a mindful yoga practice aimed at helping you to cultivate a greater sense of harmony in body, mind and spirit.

Afterwards you’re free to explore the lovely nature trail at Buzzards Valley; have a bite of lunch at the on-site bistro; or taste some wine from the vineyard and stock up on goodies at the artisan shop.

All you need to bring with you is a yoga mat and a warm blanket.

I am really looking forward to sharing this Spring-focused Qigong workshop.

Spring is governed by the Chinese phase of wood - it’s a time of growth and adaptability. Related to the connective tissues within the body our forms embrace a certain elasticity and mobility.

In this extended practice we will work with Qigong forms, meditation and intention to encourage the ascending Yang energy of Spring - a brighter, warmer energy.

This workshop will also include a guided relaxation and traditional Chinese medicine tips on how to stay healthy through this season.

Join me on May day for an evening session of creative flow-led Yoga and Yoga Nidra.

Held in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary & St Margaret’s community centre we will be exploring the solar and lunar qualities of Yoga - more dynamic movement practices leading to a calming and restorative Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation).

Join me in April for a morning of lighter, brighter Yoga practices as we flowthrough Springtime.

We will be using Yoga and Ayurvedic techniques to balance the natural energy (dosha) of Kapha which presides over springtime. We will increase our stamina and encourage a really good quality breath with postures to open the areas that can sometimes become a little congested. Opening our windows to let the fresher energy in.

Join us for a Yuletide morning of loveliness to celebrate winter, christmas and the years end with intention.

This 2 hour workshop will bring together Qigong energy boosters and an accessible Yoga flow with Denise, a gorgeous Yin yoga session with Maria Dineen ,and Sophie Rogers will have us all floating out after her beautiful sound relaxation. This is a time to come together to reflect, move, meditate and set intentions for the next cycle in your life.

The autumn equinox is a time when day and night are almost equal and marks the transition from summer to autumn as the sun is positioned above the equator.

Can we find a balance and eveness in our self around this time - any transitions or change can be challenging so it’s important to find steadiness in our body and ease in our mind.
