Benefits of Yoga & Qigong

I offer Yoga and Qigong sessions. Though these are different wellbeing practices and philosophies they can have, in my experience, similar benefits.

  • A safe way of moving the body - muscles are lengthened, shortened, activated and relaxed which is a healthy way of working, both for the physical body and the nervous system

  • An awareness and in many cases an acceptance of the body through being present in it

  • Breathing techniques can relax, energise, support healthy lung function, bring you into the present moment

  • Movements can build strength and encourage mobility within the body

  • Meditation is the ability to be here in this moment andnoticing when we move away from that state - in time this can focus yet calm the mind

  • Can support organ health through movements which massage and stimulate blood, oxygen and lymphatic flow

  • The teachings of both encourage us to explore how we live in this world - non-harming, contentment, honesty, simplicity are just some of the qualities encouraged in the ancient texts

  • Both are accessible and can be practiced in many ways depending on the student - there are many ways to practice, many forms and paths to choose from

  • Relaxation helps to ease tension from the body, brings the nervous system back to a balanced state and allows a state of pure rest, a great stress release

  • Practices can positively challenge you which can encourage confidence and trust in your Self

  • Both encourage us to think about our actions and reactions

  • An opportunity to learn something new is great for the brain

  • A chance to be with others in a safe and welcoming environment which can reduce loneliness and encourage new friendships
